Similar to its popular relative, the Orbifolia, Calathea Fasciata is noted for its broad, oval leaves in a delightfully deep, moody palette. Light green leaves accented by patterns of dark green pop in contrast to their dark red undersides. Mature Fasciatas can grow into dazzling giants around thirty inches tall with leaves up to almost a foot wide.
Light: Calathea thrive in bright, indirect light, but can tolerate some medium to low light conditions. Avoid placing in direct sunlight to prevent leaf discoloration and sunburn. Paling and curling of the leaves can be an indication of too much direct sun.
Water: Make sure to keep the soil evenly moist, but not soggy. Water when soil is dry one to two inches down in the pot. Yellowing of the leaves and stems is a good indicator to pull back on your watering schedule, while curling of the leaves is an indication that your Calathea might need a more frequent drink.
Humidity: The main trick with Calathea is to maintain a warm, humid environment. We recommend adding a humidifier to your daily plant routine.
