Philodendron Birkin are a newer hybrid to emerge from cultivation. Birkins came to be by accident and do not exist in the wild. It started out as a mutation of the Philodedron Congo Rojo, known as a spontaneous chimeric mutation and was propagated until the variegation proved stable.
These days, all Birkins are produced via tissue culture. Though the leaves are typically green with white pinstripes, the plant can also produce fully red or slightly pink variegation as a remnant of the mother plant's traits.
Light: Bright, indirect sunlight is ideal for your Birkin. They enjoy a good deal of ambient sun, but do not enjoy direct light. Consistent bright sun may result in greater variegation, while low light may cause the plant's variegation to revert.
Water: These plants prefer for their soil to stay slightly moist, but never soggy. Allow the soil to dry a few inches down in the pot to avoid overwatering.
Humidity: Moderate humidity is best for this variety. We suggest running a humidifier if your space is especially dry.
If ingested, poisonous to people and pets.
