September Staff Picks

September Staff Picks

“What plants do you recommend?” and “What are some easy plants to take care of?”-- these are questions we get asked a lot. We took some time to ask the Crimson Staff what their favorite plant picks are and why.

Allison - Hoya are one of my favorite plants, I love them all. I often will recommend a Hoya because I find them super interesting and fairly easy to care for. The blooms are so cool and other worldly and…have an amazing smell that varies from one variety to another. I have 12 different Hoya at home.

My favorites change from time to time but right now I’m loving my syngonium. I have a few different varieties but really love the color of the neon and the confetti.

Also cannot leave out my philodendron micans. They are like velvet and are beautiful and moody.

RishaPhilodendron MexicanumI’m a huge collector of philodendron in general, but i’m particularly drawn to these rare climbing varieties with leaves that can grow up to 3 feet long. With my busy schedule, I need plants that can take a little dry out in between and this cool looking guy definitely fits my bill!

JessicaPainted Lady Philodendron are one of my favorites right now because they are a unique color combination with their mottled chartreuse yellow-green leaves and bright pink stems. They grow very easilywithout a lot of particular care, which is great if you have a lot of plants to look after, or if you are new to plants!

AnnabelI love any and all Hoyas. They’re pet safe, extremely easy, and won’t get upset if you forget to water them. It’s also very rewarding when they bloom!

Eden -  My staff pick is the blue star fern! I love it for its icy blue foliage and fuzzy rhizomes. It's always delightful to watch it put out new fronds. Also, it's hardier than a lot of fern species and safe for pets.

KCAs a new first-time mom, i’ll admit it’s been hard for me to look after my plants especially with all the life changes. My Silver Anne pothos has been a trooper! It will always be one of my favorite plants, it is pretty low maintenance and easy to care for, perfect for my new on-the-go lifestyle!

If you’re a new plant parent or looking to branch out we hope that this and our Staff Picks page will serve as a fun guide the next time you decide to go plant shopping!
