Though its name may suggest otherwise, Saxifraga Stolonifera "Strawberry Begonia" is neither a Begonia nor a relative of the strawberry plant. However, this creeping cutie holds many similarities to the two both in growth habits and appearance. The Strawberry Begonia is characterized by its fuzzy leaves, colorful petioles, and the unique runners on mature plants that trail from the pot like a spider descending from its web. They make a cute trailing, easy care option for a bright room.
Light: Provide your Strawberry Begonia with bright, indirect light for optimal growth. Avoid placing in direct sunlight to prevent sunburn. Crisping around the edges of the leaves can be an indication of too much direct sun, while yellowing and shedding of its runners is a good indication that your plant is in need of more bright, filtered sun.
Water: Strawberry Begonia prefer to remain consistently moist, but never wet or soggy. Plant in a well-draining potting mix for proper root aeration.
Humidity: We recommend adding a humidifier to your plant care routine to help provide humidity if your space is dry. However, while these plants prefer a small amount of humidity, excess moisture in the air can result in leaf fungus, so it is important to find a balance.
If ingested, this item is toxic to pets.
