Pellionia pulchra is a visually appealing plant that boasts elongated, oval leaves in a striking pattern of dark and light green. Its red stems provide a striking contrast. The watermelon vine is a shingler when grown on a background or up a piece of driftwood, meaning that it will cling right to what it is growing on and the leaves will actually wrap around the background of your tank or other hardscape materials. This Pellionia is very easy to grow in typical terrarium conditions.
Light: The pellionia pulchra can tolerate most growing conditions, ranging from bright indirect light to lower light. Avoid placing in direct light as this may scorch the leaves.
Water: This plant likes moderate water - water when the top 50% of the pot has dried out.
Humidity: Native to central and southeast asia, this plant loves higher humidity conditions. It does great in terrariums!
