The Blechnum gibbum “Silver Lady” fern, or “Dwarf Tree Fern” is a perky tropical fern variety that adds a lush Victorian vibe indoors or outside in a warm, shady spot. Native to the Pacific Islands, Fiji, and New Caledonia, the Silver Lady can grow up to four feet tall from trunk to the tips of its leafy rosetted fronds. This fern variety is a vivid statement piece for those bright spaces in the home that need a lil’ leafy lift.
Light: This fern variety can tolerate more ambient sun than more sensitive fern varieties, but should be kept out of direct light. A bright, indirect spot a few feet from a bright window is best. Be careful not to place in hot, direct sun to avoid scorching its fronds.
Water: Ferns love water, but like most plants, do not like to sit in soggy soil. Water your fern one the surface of soil feels slightly dry to the touch, and make sure you give it a pot with a drainage hole.
