ABOUT THE MAKER
Maria Schoettler is an Oakland-based “artist, illustrator, trail-walker, flower-stalker, farmers’ market sweetheart, and fairweather botanist,” as her artist bio describes her. Schoettler’s illustrative work, primarily executed using gouache paints, is a study in the natural world, from botany to roots, to fruits.
Schoettler is best known for her “Eat Local” produce calendar, a month-by-month guide to seasonal eating, which she has been imagining and reimagining each year since 2008.
